Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology

Sandvik group’s Mining and Rock Technology business area is the world’s leading supplier of excavation and drilling equipment, drilling machinery, and related services in the mining and contracting industry. Applications include above- and underground drilling, mechanic removal, crushing and screening of rocks, loading and transportation, rock construction, excavation, and crushing and breaking.
Vilmet is among Sandvik’s main subcontractors. The company’s products include welded and machined frame and boom structures of rock drilling equipment.

A good example of the significance of this cooperation is the quality system, which was developed partly to enhance the quality of Sandvik’s welded steel structures. The delivery process developed as part of the project was completed in cooperation with the supplier network, which also included Vilmet. Vilmet initiated the certification process of its own welding quality system in order for it to meet the requirements of the SFS-EN ISO 3834-2 standard. For the welders of the machine shop, the benefits of the quality system are clear, as the good quality of the welding contributes significantly to the durability of the end product.

Sleipner Finland Oy

Sleipner’s solution allows for a safe and quick transfer of hydraulic excavators that are equipped with tracks e.g. in the mining industry, where the rough terrain poses a challenge.

Vilmet’s products include excavator transfer platforms and transfer mounts of earthwork machinery. The machine shop also manufactures several components e.g. for products in Sleipner’s E series, which are designed for 23-565 t excavators. The transfer only requires a truck or a dumper, an excavator, and Sleipner. The DB series is designed for the transportation of large dozers, drilling equipment, and other heavy lifting machinery up to 120 tonnes.

Vilmet manufactures for its customer e.g. central joints of forwarders, from which durability and mobility is required when the forwarder is operated in terrain, on a field, or on a road.
